REG

The REG cabinet near the entrance of the Victory, houses an exceptional collection of Australiana ceramics featuring pieces by celebrated 1930/40s ceramicist, Grace Seccombe, along with the Boyd family of potters/painters, Castle Harris and Remued potters Australian flora and fauna: parrots, kangaroos, gum leaf decoration, make up small but striking sculptural works, bowls and vases. Grace Seccombe (1880-1956) was based in Sydney, first exhibiting in 1931. The Prouds Store showcased her Billie Blue Gum Koalas range and 7 Little Australians, a kookaburra family group. Other earlier 20th Century Australiana items used pyrography or pokerwork (burnt edged & coloured woodwork) most prevalent during The Great Depression. Trays, dishes, platters, boxes, vases, bookends were popular. REG also has a shop upstairs, OZ, where his lifelong expertise in antiques sees a wide range of furniture, lamps, prints, ceramic tableware, metalware, leather goods and an assortment of very special collectable curios.
